Reordering Inventory

When the quantity of an inventory item gets low, you can replenish the item by ordering more of it. You do this with the Inventory Reorder function, which looks to the Inventory Data screen to determine whether a purchase order should be generated for the item by looking at the values in the Desired Available Qty field and the Available Reorder Level field and comparing them to the values in the Quantity On Order, Incoming Quantity, Quantity Available and Quantity Pending Completion fields. It looks at the value in the Minimum Order Size field to decide how many items to order.

To reorder inventory

1	Select Inventory Control > Inventory > Inventory Reorder. The ReOrder Inventory/Generate PO screen appears.

The following field requires explanation:

Show All Vendor Prices

Select this check box to display all vendors you have used to purchase the items you are reordering.

2	Click Display. The items that appear are details regarding items that are below the reorder level. Different information will appear, depending on how you complete the fields described in step 2:

Z	If you type a vendor code in the Vendor field, ordering information for the specified vendor appears under the Inventory Reorder tab on the ReOrder Inventory/Generate PO screen.

Z	If you leave the Vendor field blank and do not select the Show All Vendor Prices check box, ordering information for the vendor offering the lowest unit price for the item you are reordering will appear under the Inventory Reorder tab.

Z	If you type a vendor code in the Vendor field or leave the Vendor field blank without selecting the Show All Vendor Pricing check box, Voyager automatically selects the Create PO check box included in the vendor information that appears under the Inventory Reorder tab.

Z	If you left the Vendor field blank and selected the Show All Vendor Pricing check box, ordering information for all eligible vendors will appear under the Inventory Reorder tab.

If you leave the Vendor field blank and select the Show All Pricing check box, the Create PO check boxes included in the vendor information that appears under the Inventory Reorder tab will be blank. You can select as many of these check boxes as you like. A purchase order will be created for every check box you select.

The following Inventory Reorder tab fields require explanation:

Inventory Location, Item Type, Supplier, and Vendor fields	You can click the links in these columns to drill down to related records.
Expense Type	Select the Expense Type, as needed.
PO Pay Account	Select the appropriate Purchase order G/L Account to track the expense for each item.
Create PO column	Select the check box in this column for each item type you want to reorder.
Create POs button	Click this button to create purchase orders for the selected item type.
